New Wheeled Bin - To Replace Blue Recycle Boxes

Liberal Democrat run Cannock Chase District Council are about to take recycling to yet another level by introducing wheeled recycling bins to replace the current blue boxes. The council's Environmental Leader Cllr Tony Williams and his team have recently completed a very successful trial of the new system, with residents in the trial areas saying that the new wheeled bins are a great leap forward and make recycling even easier to undertake.

Councillor Tony Williams said," Here come the "Blues". No I do not mean Birmingham City or the Tories, though one is worse than the other, I mean the the Blue Recycling Wheelie Bins that residents have been asking me for in the last year. Yes at last we are getting rid of those 3 or 4 blue recycling boxes that the majority of us now use to to recycle everything from plastic pop bottles to Tetrapak juice cartons, and now paper.

No more need to carry several boxes to the kerbside

"Towards the end of June Cannock Chase Council will be rolling out the new bins and collecting in the old boxes to be recycled, unless you want to keep them. We understand that some of you will not have space to take another wheeled bin and arrangements will be made to enable you to make your choice. In the next few months we will be sending out all the information you need about the new arrangements and the new collection calendars for your area. The waste management team will be available to handle any questions you may have about the change over. I will be adding more information on this web page as it becomes available.

"Well done to all of us on the amount we are now recycling, we are amongst the top recycling councils in the country. In the mean time please contact me if you have any questions at tonywilliams@cannockchasedc.gov."
